What you need
for KMBox Net

Four things to prepare before GODAI can drive a KMBox Net: the build tools, the device driver, the cabling, and a fixed address on the box's own network.

  1. Install the Visual Studio build tools

    GODAI talks to the KMBox Net through libraries that need the Visual Studio toolchain. Download Visual Studio 2022 Community — it's the free edition. Professional and Enterprise offer a trial only.

    The summary on the right should then list the Visual Studio core editor plus those three. Leave the rest — ASP.NET and web development, Azure development, Node.js — unchecked, and start the install.

  2. Install the KMBox Net driver

    Do this on the machine GODAI runs on — the second PC if you're using two. The download is a small archive, kmboxNetDriver.zip, holding a single program.

    Drag WCHUSBNIC.EXE straight out of the archive onto your desktop, then run it. A window titled Driver Install (X64) 驱动安装 opens, already pointed at the only INF file it contains:

    Click Install 安装 — the left-hand button, above Uninstall and Help. When it finishes you'll see driver pre-installed successfully or driver installed successfully.

  3. Connect the box

    On the back of the box, the network port goes to the second PC and the game port goes to the gaming PC. On the front, plug your mouse into the top-right USB port. No keyboard is needed.

    Using a Makcu instead? USB1 and USB2 go to the computer and USB3 goes to the mouse. Makcu works with a limited range of mice, so if yours doesn't respond, try another one.

  4. Give the box a fixed address

    Plugging the box in adds a second network adapter to Windows. It carries traffic between the PC and the box only, so it needs a static address set by hand.

    1. Search the Start menu for Control Panel 控制面板 and open it.
    2. In Category view, open Network and Internet 网络和 Internet.
    3. Open Network and Sharing Center 网络和共享中心.
    4. Under your active networks, find the one named Unidentified network 未识别的网络, listed as a public network with access type No network access. That's the box.
    5. Click its connection link — Ethernet 3 in these screenshots, though the number differs per machine.
    6. In the status window, click Properties 属性.
    7. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list and open its Properties.

    The status window is how you confirm you have the right adapter: it reports a USB2.0 Ethernet Adapter running at 10.0 Mbps, with no IPv4 or IPv6 network access. The properties window names the same adapter at the top.

    Choose “Use the following IP address”, then enter

    Leave both DNS server fields empty as well. Click OK, then Apply.
